Ses Païsses

A Bronze Age Talayotic settlement on the edge of Artà — cyclopean stone walls and a central tower built around 850 BC, sitting in a holm oak grove. My pick when the beach day needs a counterweight and someone in the group wants to walk through three thousand years.

Mallora’s take

The whole loop takes 20–30 minutes — it's a small site, not a half-day. The monumental stone gateway and the central talayot tower are what you came for; the rest is low walls in an oak grove. Info panels are in Catalan, Spanish and English on-site, with a QR code for other languages. Cash only at the entrance, and there are toilets.

Good to know

The access road is potholed and the parking lot holds about eight cars, so arrive early or off-peak. Closing time can be enforced loosely — don't roll up at 4:45pm expecting a full visit.
